| Dear everyone, Students usually express their gratitude toward their teachers on the Teacher’s Day. That’s a common practice in Vietnam. Yet on this special day, I would like to do the opposite thing. I want to thank my dear students for what they have done for me over the years. First, they help me to teach creatively. People are different, so there is not just one way to convey knowledge. Working with different people requires different techniques and methods. As a result, after some years at school, I’ve become more creative and flexible. Second, they train me to become patient. Students learn at different pace. Some can understand the lesson in just 5 minutes. Others can do it in 30 minutes. I should be very patient to repeat the explanation for 3-4 times or more to help weak students understand the lesson. Third, teaching is double learning. When students ask questions about the lesson, I have a challenge to find and update new information or think more deeply and widely about the matter. Thanks to this, I gain more knowledge on the topic I’m working on. Fourth, my students come from different places. They know lots of interesting things that I don’t. Talking with them is like exchanging life experience and learning new things besides lessons in class. And in the new situation, my students become my teachers. Fifth, they make me proud of myself and my career with their accomplishment and success in their jobs and lives. They bring me the best moments when coming back to see me, reminding me of some memories that I can’t remember, yet they still keep in their hearts. I can list many more things that my students have done for me. It’s not really necessary though, perhaps. From the bottom of my heart, I’m deeply grateful for the years I have been working as teacher and those students I have a chance to work with. I would like to say thank you to my students once more. Many thousand thanks.
